Is Paul Pogba Poised to Stay at Old Trafford?

Paul Pogba had previously been rumored to be leaving Manchester United after having been linked to Juventus and Real Madrid. For a while, it was strongly implied that Los Blancos were going to acquire him. Real Madrid made an offer, but Manchester United turned it down.

Zinedine Zidane, manager of Los Blancos, expressed his interest in signing the French midfielder. Pogba himself had expressed his desire to leave Old Trafford, declaring he wanted a new challenge. Manchester United would reject several offers and talks would soon fade away.

For a while now, there’s been very little to no rumors or reports at all. Therefore, it’s safe to say that a transfer for Pogba out of Manchester United is officials Paaaly a thing of the past.

Pogba had a rough season. Injuries put him on the shelf for months. Since returning to Old Trafford in 2016, Pogba has had very little to no success. He did help the Red Devils win the 2016-2017 Europa League, but overall his second run with Manchester United has been a disappointment. It seemed that a transfer and a fresh start was the best way to salvage his career.

Despite all the previous transfer rumors and his desire to leave, Pogba has reportedly insisted that he’s staying with the club. With the Red Devils securing a top-four finish in this season’s Premier League and qualifying for the Champions League, the club has hope in its future, which may be why Pogba is determined to remain with the club.

In addition, Bruno Fernandes, who arrived at Old Trafford in February, has made an impact for the club, which may also prompt Pogba to stay with Manchester United. It’s also reported that the club is closing in on the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, which will further strengthen the Red Devils’ attack.

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Pogba and the club were closing in on a new five-year deal. Nothing’s been officially announced yet as the team is preparing to resume its Europa League run. His current contract runs through the summer of 2021.

At this point, with Pogba and the club both being on the same page and there being no hard feelings between the two sides, it’s in the best interest for both if he signs an extension to stay at Old Trafford. The sooner the two can agree to an extension the better, so Pogba can prepare for the next season stress-free.

Manchester United has a bright future and Pogba is part of that. This is the best way for Pogba to turn things around at Old Trafford.
