In the past five years or so, Paris Saint-Germain really has been on a bit of a tear. A number of very expensive and valuable talent has been a part of the club and the club has won several Ligue 1 titles, as well as numerous French domestic titles. While PSG is certainly dominant in Ligue 1 play as well as competition for a French title, they seem different when it comes to the Champions League.
About two years ago, Les Parisiens were runners-up in the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League. Last season, they made it to the final four, eliminating Barcelona and Bayern Munich along the way. Unfortunately, they would be eliminated by Manchester City. PSG has a bit of reputation of crumbling under immense pressure. However, from time to time, the club has defied such insurmountable odds. Unfortunately, they would ultimately fail to win the ultimate prize; the Champions League title.

Is Paris Saint-Germain as good as they look?
PSG is loaded with talent. From Neymar to Lionel Messi to Kylian Mbappé to Marquinhos to Presnel Kimpembe and the list goes on. On paper, Les Parisiens have one of the strongest squads in the world. However, the results on the pitch tell the story and PSG hasn’t put up the best results as of late.
Les Parisiens are doing well in Ligue 1 play. They’re on top of the table with eleven points ahead of second-place Nice. However, in the Champions League, they failed to win the group due to a loss to Manchester City and a draw against RB Leipzig. PSG has had quite the reputation of easily defeating small clubs while not being able to put up convincing results against the bigger clubs. In addition, several times this season, Les Parisiens have struggled against small clubs, as well. That’s embarrassing considering PSG has well over $1 billion worth of talent.
At the moment, PSG is really not as good as they seem to be. They will face Real Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16 with the first leg taking place next month. In order for Les Parisiens to prove that they truly are as good as they look, they need to beat Real Madrid. Losing will prove one thing; PSG is overrated.
