The Bruins must submit their list of protected players for the upcoming expansion draft by 5 p.m. Players protected cannot be poached by the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
June 21
The NHL Awards will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. During the ceremony the Las Vegas Golden Knights will submit their expansion draft selections. It’s a frustrating position to be in, but most of the Bruins offseason actions moving forward will depend on the Golden Knights. Boston’s positional needs may slightly alter as a result of the expansion draft. The Bruins are guaranteed to lose at least one player.
June 23/24
The 2017 NHL Draft. The Bruins will add to their ever going list of prospects in hopes of finding a future star. This will be their first draft under head coach Bruce Cassidy.
July 1
Free Agency Begins. It will be interesting to see what moves Don Sweeney and Bruce Cassidy make in their first full offseason together. The positions they choose to address will likely be affected by who is stolen by the Golden Knights about a week prior.
July 6-9
Bruins Development Camp. This is the Bruins first opportunity to work hands on with their recently acquired draft picks. Charlie McAvoy shined at Development Camp last season and the Bruins hope to be impressed by another rising star.
Sep. 7
Training camp being for all Bruins’ rookies.
Sep. 14
Training camp begins for all returning Bruins and newly acquired free agents.
Sep. 18
The 2017-2018 pre season begins for the Bruins. The Bruins open the preseason by facing off against the rival Montreal Canadiens at the Videotron Center.
