Sleep is the most thing to keep our bodies healthy, keeps our minds sharp. We all need it; unfortunately, a lot of us have trouble getting it. According to the Health Guide, we need at least seven to nine hours of sleep nightly. Currently, the average American gets 6.8 hours of sleep, according to Gallup. For many of us, it has to do with the trouble of falling asleep. A Consumer Report poll says 27% of Americans have difficulty sleeping, while 68% struggle with sleep at least once a week.
An athleteโs body needs to be well rested to be able to play at the top of their game. A product has been catching some buzz around the minor league baseball system. Space Foam can be seen on several young players on their social media, including current New York Mets breakout star Pete Alonso.
I had a chat with the president of Space Foam, Sam Broder. He gave me a brief background on the product:
โThere was a need for just having a better pillow. I, myself, sometimes have trouble sleeping, I know when I have a good night sleep, it just helps my performanceโฆ.One of the problems I have with pillows, my wife has with pillows and sleeping is, and weโve heard this from a lot of people is, and Iโve done some research on is, people say that their problem with sleeping is theyโre the wrong temperatureโฆwhat weโve done is develop a pillow that is cool to the touch it has this Icefibreโข cover, which we developed, which is made out of a material literally as you lay your head on it, it feels cool, as you lay your head down it stays cool. Then the core of the pillow is made out of memory foam. But what is different about this pillow is people like memory foam is it molds to your head and neck, but what our memory foam does is itโs very lightweight and breathable, only a couple of pounds, where is if you slept on other memory foam pillows they can really feel like heavy, denseโฆour pillows bounce back as you move to just naturally support you and prevent you from waking up in the middle of the night and give you that deep REM sleep.โ
I asked about the stream of athletes posting their product on their social media including Royals’ Dallas Beeler, Cardinals’ Ryan Helsley, and Mets’ breakout star Alonso; he told me this all happened organically.

โWe were sort of figuring out to be honest like how do we get the word out in the athlete community, to be perfectly honest, this ending [sic] up completely happening organically. We just noticed that some just started following us on social media, some pro-athletes actually just started coming to the site and buying the pillow and weโd recognize their name and that was just super exciting to seeโฆThey started using the pillow and telling their friends. A lot of people actually ask us like, “Whoa! Youโve got all these athletes on Instagram talking about your pillow, are you paying them?”ย “Is this [like] your advertising strategy?” And the answer is, “no, we donโt pay one dollar for paid sponsorships. Itโs really just, the product sort of speaks for itself, itโs caught on and theyโve been talking to each other about it..โ
Broder says he loves these athletes are naturally excited about the product and it’s gaining interest from their fans. Space Foam wants you to know that โyou donโt have to be an athlete to sleep like a pro.โ

Not only is the baseball community raving about the product, but others include former Olympic gold medalist Matt Moeternsen, MMA fighter Jordan Johnson and Chicago P.D. actress Marina Squarciattti are amongst people that have talked about this product.
Itโs not just athletes that love this product; customers can go directly to the site and give feedback and Broder brought up his favorite oneโ I wish I had friends and family as cool as this pillow.โ
Not only are they giving the people a quality product, but they are also giving back to the community. They are working with NMSI (National Math & Science Initiative) to provide kids a chance at education. They are working with Dr. Bernard Harris, the CEO of NMSI and the first African-American astronaut to complete a spacewalk, to help fund science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM education) to inner-city areas.
