The Houston Texans look to continue their winning streak as they visit the Kansas City Chiefs for a Week 6 showdown of AFC division leaders at Arrowhead Stadium.
Sunday’s game between the Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs is a highly anticipated matchup between two AFC divisional leaders. If both quarterbacks bring their A-game, then it’s expected to be a matchup worthy of showcasing two first-round draft picks.
Sunday will mark the first head-to-head meeting between Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, and it will more than likely be the focus of football fans across the country. Some fans might tune in to see if the Chiefs can avoid consecutive losses, and also see which Texans team will show up to the game.
The Texans’ offense won’t make it easy for the Chiefs, now that they’ve had their Week 5 explosion against the Atlanta Falcons for 53 points. With the Chiefs’ offense barely scoring 13 points against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5, the defense for the Chiefs will need to step up to ensure the scoring doesn’t get out of hand. Patrick Mahomes, despite aggravating an ankle injury suffered in the season opener, is expected to lead the Chiefs to a bounce-back win over Deshaun Watson and the Texans. However, the Texans have the opportunity to take a page out of the Indianapolis Colts’ playbook and exploit the offense injuries plaguing the Chiefs offense.
Besides being evenly matched at the quarterback position, when you look at Chiefs’ offense, they’re averaging about 29.6 points per game and their defense is giving up an average of 22.6 points per game. On the flip side, the Texans’ offense is averaging about 26.2 points per game and the defense is giving up 22 points per game. Kansas City has won four out of the last five matchups and leads the series overall at 6-4.

Prediction
The Chiefs will be able to eke out a win over the Texans as long as the offensive line stays healthy and their defense shows up to play. The Texans and Deshaun Watson will give the Chiefs’ defense a run for their money, but in the end, we’ll see that the Chiefs’ defense is much better than the Falcons’ defense. Barring any serious injuries or issues, fans will get to see a showdown of young quarterbacks with everything to prove.
