The 2022 NFL preseason is underway and team practices have grown more intense by the day.
The NFL is coming off an offseason for the ages that changed not only the complexion of individual teams but the league as a whole. Needless to say, things will look quite different than they did a season ago.
It’s the perfect time for the fourth annual edition of Three Burning Questions.
As in years past, this 32-part series will look at the three most pressing questions facing each of the 32 teams.
Who Will Catch Aaron Rodgers‘ Passes?
Five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams left for Las Vegas to join his high school and college quarterback Derek Carr. The receiver depth chart features Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and free agent acquisition Sammy Watkins, who has struggled to stay healthy. Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs were also selected in the second and fourth rounds of the draft, respectively.
Just last week, Rodgers called out the receivers for essentially not practicing or playing up to the standard in Green Bay. The key will be Watkins, assuming he can stay on the field. Tight end Robert Tonyan, who has been Rodgers’ security blanket, is returning from a torn ACL, though it’s uncertain if he’ll be ready for Week 1. He should appear in the lineup at some point in September.

How Good Will This Defense Be?
The front seven for the Packers has been solid, but it is the secondary play, led by cornerback Jaire Alexander, that separates this team defensively from not only the other three teams in their division but much of the NFC as a whole.
Alexander only played in four games last season due to a shoulder injury. The team is confident he will return to his pre-injury form; they even gave him a contract extension in the offseason. The Packers also expect big things from their first-round picks, linebacker Quay Walker and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt.
Will They Dominate the NFC Again?
The Packers went 13-4 last season. With Rodgers at the helm of the offense, it is hard to imagine that the offense drops off too much. This team remains the team to beat in the NFC North, and their counterparts are well aware of that. Rodgers will make his case for his fifth MVP trophy. The Packers fans will likely get yet another playoff game in January at Lambeau Field.
