Heller: 10 things I learned from Week 6

Here are 10 things I learned from Week 6 of the NFL season.

London loves football. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was packed … and loud. There were MVP chants for Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey and Luke chants for linebacker Luke Keuchly.

All’s forgiven. Stefon Diggs recently expressed his dissatisfaction with the Vikings’ passing attack. A three-touchdown game for Diggs, who finished with seven receptions for 167 yards, should eliminate any lasting contempt.

12 is good for two. Tom Brady had two quarterback sneak touchdowns against the Giants. Yes, two rushing touchdowns. Brady also moved into second place in career passing yards, behind only Peyton Manning, while wide receiver Julian Edelman moved into third place in receptions by a Patriot, as his 535 are behind only Wes Welker’s 672 and Troy Brown’s 557.

It’s Tannehill time, even if it’s just today. Late in the third quarter against Denver, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel finally pulled the trigger. Half of the fanbase has been calling for Ryan Tannehill ever since he was acquired from the Dolphins. In his quarter-plus of work, he didn’t look much different from Marcus Mariota, taking sacks and throwing interceptions. We’ll have to see which quarterback will get the start at home against the Chargers.

AFC South figured out Chiefs. In back-to-back weeks, Kansas City lost to the Colts and the Texans.

What a difference a year makes. Last season’s high-powered offenses from the Chiefs and Rams seem to have been figured out.

J-E-T-yes. Sam Darnold started his first game since Week 1 after missing time with mononucleosis. He led his Jets to a victory over the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium. Darnold connected with Robby Anderson for a 92-yard touchdown pass.

Maybe it was the coach. The Redskins, in their first game after firing head coach Jay Gruden, held on for a victory over the winless Dolphins. Interim head coach Bill Callahan received a game ball.

Third string, no problem. Ben Roethlisberger is on injured reserve. Mason Rudolph is still in concussion protocol. Nonetheless, on Sunday night against the Chargers, the Steelers started undrafted Devlin Hodges who got help from a solid running game led by James Conner and a great performance by the defense, as well as their fanbase which traveled well to Los Angeles. The young quarterback was able to remain calm throughout, ultimately coming out with the win in his first NFL start.

Bye, Bye, Bye. In the Seahawks’ victory over the Browns, wide receiver Jaron Brown had a pair of touchdown catches, one of which featured a celebration that paid homage to NSYNC.

Week 6 had its fair share of upsets. The Jets, Cardinals, and Steelers all pulled out unexpected wins. The Jets and Redskins each finally got their first wins of the season, but the Bengals and Dolphins must wait at least another week. The Patriots and 49ers both remain unbeaten.
