In his first campaign as a member of the Boston College Eagles, Deontae Hawkins has shored up a major concern of theirs for a the past few seasons – rebounding. On Tuesday night, it was his offense that carried BC.
The Illinois State transfer, who scored 1,007 points as a member of the Redbirds in three seasons, showed he can still carry a team when called upon.
Hawkins shot 8 of 15 from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point land, and knocked down all three attempts from the charity stripe and ended the night as BC’s high-scorer with 22 points. The Eagles topped Sacred Heart, 73-53.
