Green Bay Packers Hope to Give San Francisco 49ers Second Loss

The Green Bay Packers travel to Santa Clara, Calif., on Sunday, Nov. 24 to face the 49ers in Sunday Night Football action. The Packers lead the all-time series 32-27-1 and have won the last two in a row, but the 49ers are favored to win this game with a 60.8 percent win probability. Green Bay comes into Week 12 after a bye week in Week 11 with an 8-2 record, while San Francisco comes into the game 9-1, only losing to the Seattle Seahawks this season.

Green Bay Packers Notables

The Packers’ last win was against the Panthers in Week 10. They have recorded an average of 356 defensive yards and 384.7 defensive yards per game. Aaron Rodgers has thrown 225 of 347 completed passes for 2,718. Yards, 17 touchdowns, and two interceptions for a 102.7 rating on the season. Aaron Jones has recorded 135 carries for 589 yards and 11 touchdowns while Davante Adams has 39 receptions for 537 yards. Preston Smith leads the team with 10 sacks while Kevin King has posted three interceptions on the season. Kicker Mason Crosby has a near-perfect record, kicking 28 of 29 extra points and 13 of 14 field goal attempts.

The last time these two teams met, Rodgers posted 425 passing yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions for a 100.4 rating. He has recorded 1927 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and two interceptions for a 105.1 rating in his six career starts against San Francisco. In the last seven games on Sunday night, Rodgers has recorded 18 touchdowns and one interception for a 109.1 rating.

Running back Aaron Jones became the first Green Bay player since Hall of Famer Jim Taylor in 1962 to have two or more games with three or more rushing touchdowns in a single season; he rushed for 93 yards and three touchdowns in Week 10. Jones is tied for first place in rushing touchdowns with 11 and scrimmage touchdowns with 14. In the last three games against NFC West opponents, he has posted four touchdowns. In the last two of three games on the road, Jones has posted 180 or more scrimmage yards and two or more touchdowns.

Jamaal Williams has five touchdowns in his past five games and is going for his third game in a row on the road with a touchdown catch. Tight end Jimmy Graham recorded 104 receiving yards in the last meeting. In his last game at San Francisco as a Seahawk, Graham recorded a receiving touchdown.

Wide receiver Davante Adams recorded seven catches for 118 yards in Week 10, which was also his 14th career game with 100 or more receiving yards. In the last meeting, he recorded 10 receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns and is going for his third game in a row on the road versus the NFC West with 125 or more receiving yards.

Defense

Linebacker Preston Smith posted two sacks in Week 10 and is going for his third game in a row with at least one sack and has also recorded nine-and-a-half tackles for loss this season.

Za’Darius Smith has recorded 11-and-a-half sacks in his last nine games on the road. He has eight-and-a-half sacks on this season and eight-and-a-half tackles.

Blake Martin posted 12 tackles in the last meeting between the two teams and is the only player with 100 or more tackles in each of the past three seasons. Nobody on the team comes close to him, with Adrian Amos recording 56 total tackles this season compared to Martin’s 102.

Cornerback Kevin King posted a career-high three pass deflections in Week 10 and recorded an interception and fumble recovery in the last meeting between the two teams. King has 11 pass deflections on the season while Jaire Alexander leads the Packers with 12 pass deflections thus far.

San Francisco 49ers Notables 

San Francisco comes into Week 11 after defeating the Arizona Cardinal last week, 36-26. They have recorded an average of 286.6 offensive yards per week and 253 defensive yards per week. Jimmy Garoppolo has completed 218 of 317 passes for 2,478 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions for a rating of 97.7. Matt Breida has posted 10 carries for 542 yards and two touchdowns, while George Kittle has 46 receptions for 541 yards and two touchdowns on the season. Breida is doubtful to play while Kittle is questionable and expected to be active. Arik Armstead leads the team with eight sacks and Richard Sherman with three interceptions. Robbie Gould has a perfect extra point record but has connected on just 13 of 20 field goal attempts. He’s doubtful to play this week, leaving Chase McLaughlin as the projected starter.

Offense

Last week, Garoppolo passed for a career-high 424 yards and four touchdowns versus two interceptions for a 115.4 rating and is one of five quarterbacks with two games of four or more touchdown passes this season. In his last three of four starts at home, Garoppolo has recorded at least two or more touchdown passes and a 100-plus rating.

Running back Tevin Coleman has four rushing and one receiving touchdown in four home games this year and is going for his fifth in a row at home with 60 or more scrimmage yards. Kyle Juszczyk recorded a career-high seven receptions last week.

Rookie Deebo Samuel led the team in Week 11 with eight receptions for a career-high 134 receiving yards and is going for his third game in a row with eight or more catches and 100 or more receiving yards. Samuel leads all rookies this season with 38 receptions.

Tight end Ross Dwelley posted his first two career receiving touchdowns last week, and George Kittle is going for his fifth game in a row at home with six or more catches and 50 or more receiving yards. Kendrick Bourne also had a touchdown catch last week and is going for his fourth game in a row with a receiving touchdown.

Defense

Deforest Buckner recorded a sack last week, posted a sack in the last meeting, and has five-and-a-half sacks and a fumble recovery in his last four games against NFC North opponents; he is going for his fifth in a row this week.

Rookie Nick Bosa ranks second in the NFL with tackles for loss this season. Armstead posted a sack last week and has four-and-a-half sacks and a forced fumble in theh hlast three games at home. He’s going for his fourth game in a row at home with at least one sack.

Fred Warner led the team with 12 tackles last week and is aiming for his third game in a row with 10 or more tackles. Richard Sherman is going for his fifth game in a row with a pass deflection and has the most interceptions in the league with 31.
