The 2017 NHL Expansion Draft is over and the Las Vegas Golden Knights have drafted Boston Bruins defensemen Colin Miller.
After protecting Kevan Miller, it was clear that the Bruins would be losing either Colin Miller or Adam McQuaid, unfortunately for the Bs, they’ve lost a young defenseman that had potential.
Colin struggled at times throughout his two seasons with the Bruins, however he also flashed the potential to become a defensive starter down the line.
The loss of Colin on the blue line makes the development of Bruins defensive prospects such as Charlie McAvoy even more essential.
The decision to leave Colin exposed shows that the Bruins feel they are ready to win sooner rather than later. Kevan Miller may not have as high a ceiling as Colin, but he is the better player right now.
The Bruins clearly feel that their current defensive corps is good enough to give the team a deeper playoff run than in the 2016-2017 season.
How do you think Colin’s departure will affect the team Bruins Nation? Is the current D Corps good enough to win the Bruins the Stanley Cup?
