Gio's 2020 NFL Draft "My Guys" Team

Welcome to my annual article where I pick my favorite players at each position and people hate on me for having an opinion. These aren’t my highest-graded players at each position, rather guys that I’m very high on. This will not be a full team of 22. I’ll have seven guys on offense and ten on defense. Let’s get into it.

QB – Bryce Perkins, Virginia

I have to face the harsh reality that Perkins will probably never start an NFL game. He has a great mix of mobility and throwing ability. He doesn’t have elite arm talent, but he’s a guy who goes out there and gets the job done by any means. He reminds me a lot of Robert Griffin III, although not nearly as dominant as RGIII was at Baylor.

RB – Deejay Dallas, Miami

Dallas was a pretty good utility back at Miami who just did not have great blocking. Miami hasn’t been dominant at all in the last few years. Dallas didn’t get properly utilized in the receiving game either. He’s a guy that I would take in the sixth or seventh round and really try to develop into a rotational back.

WR – Isaiah Coulter, Rhode Island

Coulter is dynamic with the ball in his hands. He’s great in open space and has great long speed. His catch radius is impressive as well. He’s an all-around player who, if he played for a power-5 team, would probably be a day two pick. I’ll be incredibly disappointed if Coulter doesn’t get his shot in the NFL.

WR – Jeff Thomas, Miami

How does a guy as explosive as Thomas not getting more hype? I mean this guy has to be drafted! I’d take him to be my punt returner and WR4 because he brings so much explosiveness and agility to the table.

TE – Albert Okwuegbunam, Missouri

People get on him for being a bad blocker, but did they forget about Evan Engram? Okwuegbunam reminds me of Engram because of his athleticism and soft hands. His blocking does need to be polished, but it’s not a big enough red flag to make me not want to draft him.

OT – Andrew Thomas, Georgia

My favorite tackle in the class by far. Thomas has the highest floor of any tackle in the class with a lot of room to grow as well. He’s already an established run-blocker, but once he sharpens his pass-blocking ability, he’s going to absolutely dominate.

IOL – Cameron Clark, Charlotte

Clark played tackle at Charlotte, but his size and athleticism make it seem like a move to guard would be best. He held his own against the Clemson pass-rushers and looks like a force to be reckoned with. I can’t wait to see how he develops at the next level.

EDGE – Kenny Willekes, Michigan State

Willekes is a fluid player with a non-stop motor. His pass-rush ability is impressive and his ability to shoot the gaps on run defense is incredible. He could definitely add some more strength, but overall, he’s a guy who could make an immediate impact.

EDGE – Jabari Zuniga, Florida

Zuniga has impressive initial burst, driving the offensive lineman back. His hand placement is strong and his pass-counters are impressive. He can get locked up at times, making no impact on the play, but he’s a great developmental edge rusher who could be very successful at the next level.

DT – McTelvin Agim, Arkansas

Agim is a versatile player with good explosion. He has good agility for his size and can play outside if needed. He’s great against the run, although he could use a bit more strength. I’m most impressed with his quickness for his size. He could definitely develop into a starter eventually, but for now, he’s a great rotational defensive tackle.

DT – Leki Fotu, Utah

This guy can clog the running lane. He is a nose tackle at the next level who needs development when it comes to getting to the quarterback. His hand usage isn’t great, but his size and strength is. When his pad level is low, he looks a lot better. A good coaching staff could turn this kid into a star at nose tackle.

LB – Logan Wilson, Wyoming

Wilson is an amazing athlete with great instincts. His tackling ability is near-elite, but he struggles shedding blocks. He’s shown that he can play well in man coverage schemes as well. Wilson is flying under the radar, but he is the total package.

LB – David Woodward, Utah State

Woodward is an extremely intelligent player with good tackling technique and run-stopping ability. He has a significant injury history and struggles shedding blocks which hurts his stock a lot. Taking him on day three would be a low-risk, high-reward pick because he could eventually develop into a starter.

CB – Amik Robertson, Louisiana Tech

Robertson is a dog. He’s a scrappy player who projects as a slot cornerback at the next level. He’s very athletic with good coverage ability and decent tackling technique. He should definitely be getting more day two consideration.

CB – Damon Arnette, Ohio State

I just love the tenacity that this guy plays with. He gets in receivers’ faces and just plays like he’s the best player on the field. He has incredible ball skills and no true weakness in coverage. His open-field tackling ability is decent and he projects as a day-one starter no matter where he goes.

SAF – Ashtyn Davis, California

Davis is a tremendous athlete. He’s a hard hitter with incredible ball skills as well. I’m worried about his ability to make an impact in the run game, which may force him into a rotational role. Overall, he’s a guy that I would have no problem taking in the second round.

SAF – K’Von Wallace, Clemson

Wallace has a ton of experience as a starter. He has good ball skills and versatility. He can play in many different packages at the next level as well as on special teams. He’s a very jittery player with great athletic ability. I think that he’s a guy who can also make a difference in the locker room at the next level.
