Gates’ Top Team From Week 7

Week 7

Another NFL Week is in the books. Last week, the Buffalo Bills got the honor of team of the week for the second time this season. The Bills were on a bye week. So without further ado, the Team of the Week for Week 7 is the Cincinnati Bengals. What made the Bengals so dominant versus the Atlanta Falcons?

Chase to Burrow Connection

When Ja’Marr Chase was drafted in 2021 fifth overall, the pick was criticized. Chase has made those critiques eat their words; he has been a stud for the Bengals. Of course, it helps that his NFL quarterback was his college quarterback, so they have immaculate chemistry. Joe Burrow went 34-of-42 for 481 yards and three touchdowns, and Chase caught two of those.

Air Burrow

The Bengals had a great receiving game. Two wide receivers went over 100 yards in this matchup. One was Chase, who had eight receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns. The other was Tyler Boyd, who also had eight receptions but had 155 yards and one touchdown. Behind those two were Tee Higgins, who had five receptions for 93 yards, and Hayden Hurst, who had six receptions for 48 yards.

Cincinnati Run Game

Cincinnati had a dominant ground game. Joe Mixon had 17 carries for 58 yards and one touchdown. Burrow also got in on the running game, running three times for 20 yards and one touchdown. Mixon also significantly contributed to the passing game with three receptions for 33 yards.

Bengals Opponent

The Bengals played the Atlanta Falcons, who, going into this game, looked like one of the better teams in the NFC. The Bengals’ defense shut down Mariota who threw for 8-of-13 for 124 yards and one touchdown. The Falcons’ highest wide receiver was Damiere Byrd who had one reception for 75 yards and one touchdown.

The Bengals Are Returning to 2021 Form

With this win against the Falcons, the Bengals seem to have begun to return to their 2021 form. They were able to get after Marcus Mariota. Sam Hubbard and Trey Hendrickson each notched a sack. Akeem Davis-Gaither and Zachary Carter combined for ten solo tackles. Three things the Bengals did that helped them win. They dominated on offense, getting after the quarterback, and using that Ja’marr Chase and Joe Burrow Connection.
