Gates’ Top NFL Team From Week 2 (2025)

Eagles Named Gates' Top NFL Team From Week 2

Week 2 of the NFL season has concluded, and as we move deeper into the 2025 season, the top teams will begin to separate themselves from the weaker ones.

At this stage, however, it is still too early to have a clear understanding of which teams are truly “good.” We need more time to observe their performances before forming a solid idea of how they might fare in January, or even beyond Thanksgiving.

Nevertheless, one team that has consistently shown its strength and is poised to be a formidable contender in the postseason is the Philadelphia Eagles.

Saquon Barkley

Last season, star running back Saquon Barkley played a crucial role in the Eagles’ offense at various points, and it appears to be the same this season. Last year, his contributions helped the team win the Super Bowl. In this game, Barkley had 22 carries for 88 yards and scored one touchdown. Additionally, he caught two passes for six yards.

Jalen Hurts

Although quarterback Jalen Hurts had a relatively subdued performance compared to his usual standards, he still contributed to a hard-fought victory over the formidable Kansas City Chiefs. He completed 15 of 22 passes for 101 yards. On the ground, Hurts ran nine times for 15 yards and accounted for one touchdown.

Vic Fangio’s Defense

The Eagles’ victory over the Chiefs showcased their strong defense. Safety Andrew Mukuba excelled, recording five solo tackles and one interception. Defensive tackle Moro Ojomo also played a crucial role in the game, securing the game’s only interception against Kansas City’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes, while defensive back Cooper DeJean contributed significantly with six solo tackles.

It is clear that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio‘s unit was dominant against the Kansas City offense, as they held Mahomes to just 16 completions for 187 yards. Fangio came to Philly by way of the Miami Dolphins, where he maximized the potential of their defensive unit.

As Kansas City looks weaker, Philadelphia appears stronger. With their recent win over the Chiefs, the Eagles are poised to repeat what they accomplished last season: winning another Lombardi Trophy. They have key assets, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Saquon Barkley, and a strong defensive unit led by Vic Fangio.
