In the penultimate week of the NFL regular season, chaos ensued.
The Chicago Bears beat the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Giants came within one point of beating the Los Angeles Rams. In addition, the Arizona Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Eagles.
That is why the Cardinals are the Team of the Week despite having been eliminated from playoff contention several weeks ago.
Kyler Played This Game Like Call Of Duty
Kyler Murray had arguably his best game of the season, completing 25 of 31 passes for 232 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also ran five times for 24 yards. His three passing touchdowns went to rookie Michael Wilson, Michael Carter, and James Conner.
However, none of those three led the team in receiving. That was Greg Dortch, just like everyone predicted. (Right?) He finished with 82 yards on seven receptions.
James Conner Demolished The Philly Defense
James Conner had 26 carries for 128 yards and a rushing touchdown, plus an additional five-yard touchdown reception.
Gotta Catch Them All
Five Arizona receivers had 20-plus yards (Dortch, Trey McBride, Wilson, Rondale Moore, and Elijah Higgins), and two others not on that list (Carter and Conner) scored touchdowns. Philadelphia’s defense has been slipping in recent weeks and has not fared any better since allowing Matt Patricia to call plays. Perhaps the departure of Johnathan Gannon to coach the Cardinals affected the Eagles’ organization more than we initially realized.
A Philly Special Christmas Ruined By Those Damn Birds
The Cardinals beat the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles this season but lost to the Washington Commanders and the New York Giants. Could Philly have enjoyed their New Year’s Eve if they beat those damn birds? We’ll never know because the scriptwriters went all-in for this one. The Cardinals’ rollercoaster ride this year epitomizes the entire NFL this season.
