Even though the Patriots have not played football in almost two weeks, that hasn’t stopped the NFL world from bringing the team up every chance they get. In particular, the future of Tom Brady has been mentioned quite often.
Every talking head who has a platform to stand on has voiced their opinion on where the future Hall of Fame quarterback will be suiting up next year. While the vast majority of these people have no real insight or source on the matter, there are a few that are plugged in more than most. Former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi is one of those people who has a relationship with the team.
Bruschi made headlines a week ago when he said that he “would not be surprised” if Brady was on another team to start the 2020 season. He now seems to be walking that opinion back and changing his tune a bit.

The former Pro Bowler said on WEEI’s “Ordway, Merloni and Fauria” show on Wednesday, “The more I think about it, it’s just the right thing for both parties involved for Brady to return.”
Bruschi probably took a step back and looked at the situation from both sides and realized that while Brady may be able to get more money from another team, he clearly wants to stay a New England Patriot.
What also lends some credibility to this opinion is the person it’s coming from. This isn’t your national media member who is trying to make a headline by saying Brady may go to the Chargers or Colts or anything like that. This is someone who has sat across the table from Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft many times before.
This change in opinion also begs the question if Bruschi maybe heard some chatter out of the team or from Brady’s camp regarding a potential resolution to this ongoing saga and, while he obviously wouldn’t want to say what he heard and from whom he heard it, Bruschi may have wanted to correct his previous statement knowing that the likely outcome now is that the quarterback and team will be reunited.
This entire situation is still very much up in the air, but when you have a former player who played for the team saying that it would be best for both sides if they came together on an agreement, that’s something that Patriots fans can latch onto as they await the fate of the most beloved athlete to ever play New England sports.
