Last season a quarterback controversy plagued this team through the first six games. One coaching decision led the Titans to the playoffs. Once there they didn’t stop, they upset the New England Patriots and essentially ended the dynasty. They followed that up with an even more shocking upset of the AFC favorites the Baltimore Ravens. Their luck ran out against Kansas City in the AFC Championship Game. Here are my five bold predictions for the Tennessee Titans.
Make sure to check out all of our other team bold predictions here.
Derrick Henry will have a better season than last year
Coming off of his NFL Rushing Title, and potentially a new contract by the start of the season, the former Heisman Trophy winner will be explosive from start to finish this season. As we saw last season even when defenses know he’s coming, they more often than not still struggle to bring him down.
A.J. Brown will be a Top 10 receiver in the league by season’s end
With the consistent and at times explosive play in his rookie season, there’s no reason to think Brown won’t take the next step among the league’s elite in his sophomore campaign.
Kristian Fulton will win Defensive Rookie of the year Award
The steal of the Draft at number 61 overall, will be playing all season with that chip on his shoulder and the Titans defense will benefit nicely from it, as long as the pass rush is improved from last season.
The Titans will be the AFC South Division Champions
After sneaking into that playoffs as a wildcard team a season ago, The Titans faithful will be able to attend a home playoff game for the first time since 2008. I also expect the Titans to finish the season with a double-digit win total.
Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry will both be in the MVP conversation
The Titans offense transformed once coach Mike Vrabel made the decision to pull Marcus Mariota in favor of Tannehill. Tannehill’s play along with Henry’s effective running turned this team and it’s entire season around. As long as goes as scheduled, I expect stellar performances from both guys week in and week out.
