After another stellar season, Russell Wilson, where if not for Lamar Jackson‘s lights out season, could’ve easily walked away with the MVP award. Another successful double-digit season that featured a pair of epic matchups with division rival and ultimate NFC Champions, the San Francisco 49ers.
The season was derailed by a running game that was decimated by injuries. In a span of two late-season games, running backs Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny were lost to season-ending injuries. The team signed fan favorite, albeit an out of football shape, Marshawn Lynch out of retirement. That move saw limited results, as he got reacclimated with the offense. The Seahawks’ season came to an end in a loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

Another MVP caliber performance
While this doesn’t quite qualify as bold, Russell Wilson will once again be in the MVP conversation from beginning to end this season, which seems to be the case every season. With his security blanket receiver Tyler Lockett and the additions of former Panthers tight end Greg Olsen and former Patriots wideout Phillip Dorsett, along with his ability to tuck it and run when needed, Wilson will be in a perfect position to win the MVP Award when all is said and done.
D.K. Metcalf will have a better statistical season
The rookie out of Ole Miss. showed glimpses of being the number one receiver for years to come in the NFL. Year two in the league will see Metcalf put up highly respectable yards and touchdown numbers this season. The Seahawks will also benefit from his “friendly” competition with former college teammate and Tennessee Titans sophomore receiver A.J. Brown. That competitiveness will translate through this entire team.
Beast Mode one more time
While talks are said to be preliminary, all indications are that Marshawn Lynch will sign on for one more season in Seattle. With the offseason he will be back in football shape and ready at the start of the season, he will be the running back he always was. If fans are actually allowed in the seats, there will be many Skittles showers for Beast Mode this season.
Steal the division
While you can’t dismiss the reigning champions, you also can’t overlook a Wilson led offense. Week in and week out he puts his team in the best position to win. This season will be no different. They will edge out the 49ers in the waning weeks of the season and win the NFC West crown.
Defensive surprise
We know the names Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright, Bruce Irvin, and the Griffin twins, but 27th overall pick, linebacker Jordyn Brooks out of Texas Tech could be the under the radar hero this season. He will fill the void on the Seattle defense left by Jadeveon Clowney, as all indications are that he will sign somewhere other than Seattle, but he has yet to make a decision.
