Fantasy Football News & Views posts twice weekly: Warmup kick-starts your fantasy football planning, and Last Looks makes sure you’re ready to roll out your rosters.
Was there a full moon on Sunday? Or maybe Mischief Night changed its date without notice? Either way, freaky fantasy happenings haunted many of us, and could possibly impact the rest of our seasons.
Before things spiral out of control, let us explore some fantasy fallout from Week 9 and get a grip on how to refresh our rosters, as well as our expectations. Week 9 was a mixed bag of tricks. New studs emerged, forgotten favorites reminded us they were still relevant, and other hopefuls disappointed.
Studs that exceeded Fantasy experts’ Week 9 expectations include Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, Chargers RB Melvin Gordon, Bills RB Devin Singletary, Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake, Lions WR Marvin Jones, 49ers WR Emmanuel Sanders and Bears RB David Montgomery.
Week 9 also saw its share of disappointing performers, including Packers RB Aaron Jones, Jaguars WR D.J. Chark, Ravens TE Mark Andrews, Bears WR Allen Robinson, Chargers WR Keenan Allen, Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Vikings WR Stefan Diggs.
Thursday Night
Tonight’s Chargers-Raiders game has crazy potential. There is a lot at stake, and mixed fantasy predictions are floating around everywhere. Here are a few things to consider:
This could be the Oakland Raiders’ last prime time home game as the Oakland Raiders. Will this light a fire and push the team to end a storied tradition on a successful note?
Raiders WR Tyrell Williams is taking on his old teammates. He is familiar with the Chargers’ defense, and he’s looking forward to the matchup.
Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (shoulder) is active for tonight. Jacobs leads all rookies in touches, rush yards and scrimmage yards.
A determined Chargers RB Melvin Gordon has something to prove. One could say he’s playing for his future tonight. We finally saw the old Gordon last week; will he continue this week?
Chargers WR Keenan Allen owners know that Allen has been a disappointment this season. If there were a game where he really should show up, this would be the game.
Raiders TE Darren Waller had a quiet Week 9, but he is expected to bounce back for this showdown.
Raiders QB Derek Carr has quietly been having a great season, but folks are wary of this matchup. Do you roll with him, or play it with caution and find another option?
Whatever your decisions for tonight’s game, good luck and don’t forget to check back for the rest of Week 10’s fantasy news and views.
