Fantasy Football: Three Sleeper Rookie Wide Receivers

Jacob Harris | May 17th, 2020

There are no doubt some potentially great fantasy football finds in this rookie class. From all of the quarterbacks and receivers to the running backs taken in the first and early second round. But some of the truest talent in any draft are those who can produce when drafted in the later rounds. That is why today, I will be telling you about three late-round (third or later) talents that could make an impact on your fantasy football season. Some of these guys could be the next Terry McLaurin.

Tyler Johnson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs got a real steal in the fifth round when they drafted Johnson. I think anyone willing to take a flyer on him is getting a steal too. The man was a beast in the last two seasons in Minnesota. He racked up nearly 2,500 yards and 25 touchdowns. Johnson fits into what the Bucs will want to do with a legend at quarterback and two good receivers there already. Although he will not have or be expected to carry a big role for this team, Johnson might see a lot of time on the outside as Chris Godwin will most likely play the slot.

Gabriel Davis, Buffalo Bills

Davis is a fourth-rounder out of UCF. Davis had a massive impact on the resurgence of UCF football. He had over 1200 yards and 12 touchdowns in his final season. He’ll fit in pretty well with the Bills offense with the improving offensive weapons around franchise quarterback Josh Allen. He’s not an overly quick wide-out but could be utilized down the field as a one-on-one target with his big body and strong hands. Alongside Stefon Diggs, Davis might be a good pickup in a DFS or dynasty situation.

Collin Johnson, Jacksonville Jaguars

Johnson is a fifth-round selection out of Texas. He’s a big, long receiver that will win a lot of match-ups down the field. He had an injury-plagued senior season that affected his draft stock. His speed is a bit of an issue but Johnson fits in well with this offense because the Jaguars don’t have any big receivers, just several speedy ones. Afterall Gardner Minshew has the throw the ball to someone.
