Fantasy players will have to decide whether last week’s high-scoring running back is a sign of things to come or a fluke. However, the most critical part of the waiver wire is finding the right players to stream for the upcoming matchup. Whether you need an injury replacement or your current starter has a bad matchup, it is critical to find the right player to stream. With that in mind, here are eight potential streaming options for Week 17.
The following players are own in under 50 percent of ESPN leagues. All stats are based on four-point per passing touchdown and PPR scoring.
Justin Fields vs New York Giants (20.8%)
Unfortunately, Fields missed last week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks with an ankle injury. However, he should be ready to start this week. Over his past four healthy games, Fields has averaged 19.7 fantasy points per game, scoring at least 16.9 fantasy points in every contest. More importantly, he has a great matchup this week. The Giants have given up an average of 17.1 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. They have allowed at least 16.7 fantasy points to quarterbacks in three of their past four games. Furthermore, the Giants have given up at least two passing touchdowns to quarterbacks in 60 percent of the games this season. Fields has top-12 upside against a struggling New York defense.
Mac Jones at Jacksonville Jaguars (18.9%)
Despite Jones scoring a total of 5.6 fantasy points against the Buffalo Bills this season, fantasy owners shouldn’t worry. Jones has averaged 17.2 fantasy points per game over the past four weeks against teams other than the Bills. He has averaged two passing touchdowns and 253.5 passing yards per game in those four games. More importantly, Jones scored at least 17.2 fantasy points in three of those four contests. Meanwhile, the Jaguars have given up an average of 17.7 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. They have given 21 or more fantasy points to quarterbacks in half their matchups this season, including two of the past four games. This week, Jones is a high-end QB2 for fantasy owners in super flex leagues.
Cole Kmet vs New York Giants (40.5%)
Kmet made the streamers list last week and scored 8.9 fantasy points against the Seahawks. He caught four of his five targets from Nick Foles, totaling 49 receiving yards. More importantly, Kmet has averaged 7.4 targets and 9.7 fantasy points per game over the past five weeks. While he has failed to score a touchdown this season, Kmet has a great matchup on Sunday. The Giants have given up an average of 12.8 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season. Furthermore, they have struggled to stop tight ends lately. Over the past seven games, the Giants have given up an average of 13.5 fantasy points per game to tight ends. With the matchup this week against Giants, Kmet has top-10 upside.
Gerald Everett vs Detroit Lions (17.4%)
Coming into the season, Everett was a fantasy afterthought. However, he has played well since Russell Wilson returned. Over the past seven weeks, Everett has averaged 10.6 fantasy points per game. Furthermore, he has scored 10 or more fantasy points in four of the past five games, including three straight. More importantly, Everett has a great matchup this week. The Lions have given up an average of 14 fantasy points per game to tight ends this season. They have also given up at least 12.6 fantasy points to tight ends in six straight games. Last week the Lions gave up 16.2 fantasy points to Kyle Pitts and 10.1 to Hayden Hurst. While Everett won’t score 26 fantasy points this week, he will finish the week as a top-10 tight end.
Pittsburgh Steelers D/ST vs Cleveland Browns (49.3%)
The Steelers D/ST has struggled this season, averaging only 4.2 fantasy points per game. However, the Steelers D/ST has played well at times, scoring seven or more fantasy points in a third of the games this season. More importantly, they have scored nine or more fantasy points in two of their past four games. Meanwhile, opposing D/STs have averaged 5.1 fantasy points per game against the Browns this season. However, they have averaged 8.5 fantasy points per game against the Browns over the past six games, scoring 10 or more fantasy points in four of those contests. Furthermore, the Steelers D/ST scored nine fantasy points against the Browns earlier this season. Fantasy owners should expect a similar result on Monday night.
Chicago Bears D/ST vs New York Giants (13.0%)
After Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending neck injury, the Giants have turned to Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm at quarterback. Over the past four games without Jones, opposing D/STs have averaged 11.8 fantasy points per game against the Giants, scoring at least 10 fantasy points in three of those contests. Furthermore, the Philadelphia Eagles D/ST scored 18 fantasy points against the Giants last week. Meanwhile, the Bears D/ST has played well lately. Over the past seven games, they have averaged 6.7 fantasy points per game, scoring 10 or more fantasy points in three of those contests. The Bears D/ST is a top-three option regardless of who the Giants start under center this week.
Ryan Succop at New York Jets (29.7%)
Last week Succop had a season-high 16 fantasy points against the Carolina Panthers as he made all four of his field goals. Succop has converted 84 percent of his field goals this season, including six of his nine attempts from 40 plus yards away. Furthermore, he has averaged 7.6 fantasy points per game this season. Since returning from injury, Gould has averaged 8.1 fantasy points per game, scoring at least seven fantasy points in 75 percent of those contests. He has also scored at least six fantasy points in seven straight games. More importantly, Gould has an excellent matchup this week for fantasy owners.
