Fanelli’s Fave Five Bets for Thursday Night Football: Week 3

Mike Gesicki

Tonight we have the battle of Florida teams as the Miami Dolphins head north to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars. The team’s fan base and fantasy football players will have their eyes glued to the game, watching every play with the utmost attention. For gamblers, their only rooting interest is whatever will lead to money in their pocket. However, which bets should they place for tonight’s game? Here are five bets gamblers should consider placing.

Be sure to place your bets with Jazz Sportsbook for the best odds and excellent promotions.

Keelan Cole to Score an Anytime Touchdown (+220)

Cole has gotten off to a hot start this season as he leads the team in targets (12) and catches (11). Cole is also second among Jaguar wide receivers in snaps played, playing in 67 percent so far this season. The more important number is two. That’s the number of games this season Cole has a touchdown. In case you are bad at math, that means he has scored in both games this season. Lining up in the slot, Gardner Minshew looks his way often and trusts him in the red zone. Furthermore, DJ Chark is questionable to play tonight and if he’s out, expect more targets Cole’s way. At over 2-1 odds, gamblers would be smart to back Cole scoring for the third game in a row.

Mike Gesicki Over 3.5 Receptions (-167)

This line makes no sense. Gesicki is coming off a big game against the Buffalo Bills, where he caught eight of 11 targets for 130 yards and a touchdown. Furthermore, despite playing against a tough New England Patriots’ defense in Week 1, Gesicki caught three of his fifth targets. Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last six months, you know the Jaguars’ defense is awful. If Gesicki can pull in 11 of 16 targets against two of the better defenses in the league, he should have no problem getting four catches tonight. Expect him to cash this bet for you before halftime.

Gardner Minshew Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns (-152)

The Mustache started the 2020 season with a bang. He has completed 75.4 percent of his passes and thrown for three touchdowns in each game. Furthermore, he has done that against two solid defenses in the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans. Tonight, he faces a Dolphins’ defense that gave up 417 passing yards and four touchdowns to Josh Allen. Furthermore, Dolphins’ starting cornerback Byron Jones is out tonight with a groin injury. If the Dolphins can’t stop Allen from throwing four touchdowns, there is no way they can keep Minshew from throwing two. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Minshew threw his second touchdown of the night before the end of the first quarter.

Jordan Howard to Score an Anytime Touchdown (+285)

After signing with the Dolphins in free agency, many had high hopes for Howard. Unfortunately, he has been a big disappointment so far this season. He is averaging less than one yard per carry and has played on just 12.4 percent of the snaps. However, the one thing he has done well is score at the goal line. He has a goal line touchdown in each game this season, and that’s the only role the Dolphins appear interested in using him in. If the Dolphins find themselves down at the goal line again tonight, expect Howard to get the ball. At almost 3-1 odds, this is too good of a bet to pass up.

Laviska Shenault Over 33.5 Receiving Yards (-112)

If Chark doesn’t play, the payout on this bet will drop quickly. In his first two NFL games, Shenault has gone over 33.5 receiving yards in both games. He has seen four targets in each game and is a key part of the Jaguars’ offense, given his pass catching and rushing abilities. With Jones not playing, Shenault has a favorable matchup against Noah Igbinoghene. This game should be high scoring with plenty of passing by both teams. While Shenault has yet to crack 40 yards receiving in a game, don’t be surprised if he goes over 65 tonight.
