Trey Sermon Finishes as a Top-20 Running Back

Last season, the 49ers had three running backs run for over 300 yards, Jerick McKinnon, Jeff Wilson, and Raheem Mostert. However, McKinnon is now in Kansas City, while Wilson will miss part of the season with an injury. That leaves Mostert as the starter. However, after missing eight games last season, reports are the 49ers don’t trust him as the lead back. While they added Wayne Gallman in the offseason, his roster spot isn’t secured as his contract is non-guaranteed. Furthermore, beat reporters believe Sermon has a good chance to earn a featured role early in the season. If Sermon can secure the featured role in this offense, he will have no trouble finishing as a top-20 running back.

George Kittle has Over 100 Catches

As great as Kittle has been in his career, he has never finished a season with 100 catches. Last season, Kittle was on pace for 96 catches before dealing with injuries that caused him to miss eight games. In the previous two seasons, Kittle had 88 and 85 catches. Not only is Kittle the focal point of the passing attack in San Francisco, but the 49ers have one of the most underwhelming wide receiver cores in the NFL. While Brandon Aiyuk is a star in the making, Deebo Samuel has struggled with injuries in his career. After them, the depth at wide receiver is thin after Kendrick Bourne signed with the New England Patriots this offseason. If he can stay healthy, Kittle should easily catch over 100 passes this season.

Trey Lance Starts 12 Games, Finishes as a Top-15 Quarterback

While there is a chance Lance could start Week 1, the 49ers will likely give him a few weeks to sit behind Jimmy Garoppolo and watch from the sideline. However, the 49ers have their bye in Week 6, and then things could change. Unless the 49ers start the season on a winning streak, they will likely change quarterbacks during the bye week. Typically, teams move to their rookie quarterback during the bye week to give them two weeks to prepare for their first NFL start. Furthermore, Lance’s fantasy playoff schedule is against the Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans, and Houston Texans; three weak defenses. If he starts enough games, Lance has the skillset and tools around him to produce for fantasy owners and finish as a top-15 quarterback.
