While the 2021 NFL season is still months away, it is never too early to prepare for the fantasy season. Whether it’s research, mock drafts, or going with your gut, everyone has a way to prepare for their fantasy drafts. However, this isn’t another article to help you prepare for the fantasy season. Today, I am going to give three bold fantasy predictions for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2021.

Austin Ekeler has Over 1,600 Scrimmage Yards
While he only played in 10 games last season, Ekeler still lead the team with 116 rushing attempts. He also finished third on the team with 54 receptions. Despite missing six games, Ekeler was on pace for almost 1,500 scrimmage yards over a 16 game pace last season. Furthermore, despite splitting touches with Melvin Gordon, Ekeler averaged 96.9 scrimmage yards per game in 2019. Meanwhile, new offensive coordinator, Joe Lombardi, spent the past five years with the New Orleans Saints. Over the first four seasons of his career, Alvin Kamara averaged 102.7 scrimmage yards per game, including a career-high 112.5 last season. Expect Lombardi to feature Ekeler similarly as the Saints did with Kamara. Furthermore, Ekeler should be a first-round pick in every PPR draft.
Jared Cook has at least Seven Touchdowns
In the offseason, the Chargers lost Hunter Henry as he signed with the New England Patriots. To replace him, the Chargers signed the former Saint, Cook. While Henry has been one of the better tight ends in the NFL since entering the league, he had only one season with more than five touchdowns. By comparison, Cook has 22 touchdowns over the past three seasons, scoring at least six each season. In Los Angeles, Justin Herbert will welcome Cook when the Chargers are in the red zone. With Herbert throwing to him, Cook has the potential to finish the season as a top-12 tight end.
Justin Herbert Throws Over 40 Touchdowns
Herbert’s rookie season didn’t start the way he would have liked. After not playing Week 1, Herbert found out he was getting his first career start five minutes before the Chargers’ Week 2 matchup. Despite the rocky start to his career, Herbert showed why he is a superstar in the making. After throwing two touchdowns in the first two games of his career, Herbert threw three or more in four straight games. Furthermore, other than three matchups against tough defenses, Herbert threw two or more touchdowns in every game from Week 4 on last season. With a healthy Mike Williams, Keenan Allen, and Ekeler, to go along with Cook and the rookie Josh Palmer, Herbert has the weapons around him to easily throw over 40 touchdowns this season.
