eNascar Pro Invitational Will Look To Fill The Breach For NASCAR Starved Fans

Dale Money  | March 20th, 2020

Last Sunday was meant to be an exciting day of NASCAR at Atlanta, however, due to the Coronavirus scare that was not to be. All of the race events would be suspended at Atlanta Motor Speedway and also the following weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Instead, a replacement race of sorts was assembled by both iRacing and NASCAR to fill the void left by the missed action. It would be broadcast live by Podium eSports on the popular streaming service Twitch.

The race which was called the Replacements 100, featured a mixture of current NASCAR personalities and iRacing experts. They would compete in a simulation of the Atlanta Motor Speedway event, that was meant to have taken place that day. It was Josh Williams the spotter for Ryan Blaney, that would win the event by beating second-place driver William Byron by more than two seconds.

The race would prove to be a rip-roaring success, having reached as high as 27,000 live viewers. A decision was announced on Tuesday, due to the success of the Replacement 100. As a new event, called the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series, would be run over the next several weeks. Just like with real life NASCAR events that are held most weekends, this Pro Invitational will include all three series. Sprint Cup Series, Xfinity and Gander RV @ Outdoor Truck Series will each have their own races.

Along with current NASCAR drivers such as Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, and Denny Hamlin taking part in Sundays virtual Cup race. We will also have 2000 Winston Cup Series Champion Bobby Labonte, who will make an appearance. It all kicks off this upcoming Sunday at the virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The races will be broadcast through, Fox Sports 1 and the Fox Sports App. As the usual Fox NASCAR trio of Jeff Gordon, Mike Joy and Larry McReynolds will be there to cover the event live.
