Only a couple of days to the letter after an article was written about a fan’s desire to meet him, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman dropped everything in his schedule to meet Justyna Boucher.
“I heard you’ve been trying to get a hold of me,” Edelman said to Boucher upon arrival. “So I just wanted to come and say hello.”

The two-time Super Bowl champion walked in with flowers in one hand and a bag full of goodies in the other, ready to give Justyna Boucher—who has a maximum of six months to live according to her doctors—a night she would never forget.
Edelman knocked on the door asking for Boucher and when the door swung open, she and almost her entire family shot up with smiles on their faces.
“I’m speechless,” Boucher said as Edelman signed everything given to him.
The Kent State alum and Boucher talked as her family and friends observed from the side. With cameras flashing and videos being taken, the receiver and Boucher re-counted how life has been stacked against them from the very beginning.
“You just gotta believe,” Edelman said after Boucher asked a question. “You have to keep fighting.”
Edelman answered another one of Boucher’s long-awaited questions she has wanted to ask him—Why did he want to write a book?
“That’s a good question,” Edelman said. “It’s been my life, through my whole football career, my childhood, and the way my parents raised me, it was one of those things where I was never the kid that was supposed to make it.”
“Neither was I,” Boucher said as Edelman nodded his head agreeing with a smile.

The tears around the room were shed not for sadness, but instead for joy as they watched a young woman fighting for her life smile as her biggest wish was granted.
