The Kansas City Chiefs host the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch for the season opener at Arrowhead Stadium.

ToggleThe Eagles, fresh off a victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, march into Arrowhead in a Super Bowl 59 rematch. The Chiefs will look to grab their first win of the season. However, without Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice, and with the team’s overall poor performance against the Los Angeles Chargers, securing a win will not be simple.
When looking at the overall play from each team in their season openers, Philadelphia looks like they haven’t missed a beat since the Super Bowl, while the Chiefs looked slow and tired. It’s as if they put so much of their energy into trying to get a three-peat that they wore themselves out.
The game will give fans of both teams an idea of how the rest of the season might go. Can the Eagles keep on rolling, or will the Chiefs finally wake up from their nap?

Philadelphia is the clear favorite to win this matchup. Taking a chance on the Chiefs might be interesting, but the consensus is that the Eagles are the sure bet.
What To Watch For
Given Kansas City’s shallow offense, the Chiefs will suffer more from player absences than the Eagles. Dallas Goedert has a knee sprain and won’t play; Worthy’s status is uncertain.
The passing game is a concern for Patrick Mahomes and his offense. Travis Kelce is a no-brainer, but beyond his role on the offense, the Chiefs have a few players to look to. Hollywood Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster lead the way, in place of Worthy and Rice. Brown is now the next man up, and fans can expect him to do a lot of the heavy lifting for the Chiefs.
Tyquan Thornton, who was a second-round pick for the Patriots in 2022, saw some playing time and might see some more against the Eagles. Some see Thornton as a reclamation project, and so far, he’s looked okay given the limited time. To help with the rushing game, Isiah Pacheco and Noah Gray are a given, and don’t forget about Kareem Hunt.
These players will impact the Chiefs’ chance to score and their ability to avoid the Eagles’ defense.
In the Week 1 game against Dallas, they appeared to let the Cowboys hang around in the game longer than they should have. Most likely due to the early ejection of Jalen Carter. The goal for their defense will be to keep Mahomes and his crew off the field as much as possible. They need to disrupt what little passing game the Chiefs have and remember not to let Pacheco get something started. Aggressiveness is what will give them the advantage if they begin the game that way and stay consistent with their play-calling.
The Chiefs could start 0-2 if they fail to neutralize the Eagles’ defense and their offense led by Jalen Hurts.
