A more simplistic slate awaits us for Thursday night as we have just six games to breakdown. Just like last night, Colorado appears to be where high scoring is most likely to occur. The Texas Rangers are at home against Felix Hernandez and the Seattle Mariners, and the Los Angeles Dodgers will visit the Arizona Diamondbacks. These games appear to have the best potential for higher scoring. Grabs some peanuts and a frosty beverage, we’re going Around the Horn!
PITCHER
Lance Lynn TEX $10,000
Hyun-Jin Ryu and Jacob deGrom will get plenty of attention on an abbreviated slate but we can find really good value with Lance Lynn. Lynn will draw a lower-tiered offense in the Seattle Mariners and is backed by some solid numbers versus Seattle this season. In 20 innings of work he has totaled 30 punch outs and has averaged nearly 30 DK pts per game in three outings versus the Mariners this season.
INFIELD
Josh Bell 1B $5,400
The confines of hitter-friendly Coors Field and recent better play (18 pts Monday, 22 pts Saturday) all play into the hands of the powerful young slugger. Bell has floundered some in the second half but the matchup here is enticing. 27-year-old Chi Chi Gonzalez is 0-5 with a 6.43 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP this season for the Rockies. Bell hits right-handed pitching to the tune of .295 with 26 HRs, much better than the .219 mark he has put against lefties.
Colin Moran 3B $4,900
Sticking with the Pirates at Coors, how about Colin Moran. Moran has gone 11-for-31 in his last 10 contests heading into last night’s action. He is also slugging .677 and averaging 8.1 pts per game during the string. This is simply a matter of taking a consistent bat in a plus-plus matchup.
OUTFIELD
Shin-Soo Choo TEX $4,800
The veteran outfielder keeps producing as he has gone 11-for-37 and is averaging 9.1 DK pts per game over his last 10 before Wednesday’s contests. In 14 games against Seattle this season he is hitting .322 while slugging .559. He is also averaging almost two points more against the Mariners (10) compared to the 8.4 versus the rest of the league. The Rangers will draw King Felix Hernandez who has become a shell of his former self. He has only made nine starts this season resulting in a hefty 6.09 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP.
A.J. Pollock LAD $4,400
Since being back to full health Pollock has fit very nicely into the stacked Dodger lineup. For the month of August Pollock is hitting a robust .345. Before Wednesday’s action, Pollock has slugged .542 and has averaged almost 11 DK pts (10.8) in six games this season versus his former team, the Arizona Diamondbacks.
