Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell agreed to a five-year, $195 designated rookie extension on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The deal includes an escalator clause of 30 percent that would turn the $163 million base that’s guaranteed into $195 million if Mitchell is voted onto one of the three All-NBA teams.

Mitchell averaged 24 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.3 assists last season. He was also named an All-Star for the first time. In the playoffs, he averaged 36.3 points.

The deal is good for the Jazz. Mitchell is one of the NBA’s rising stars. He has career averages of 22.7 points and four assists in the regular season and has averaged 27.3 points in the playoffs. Last season he joined Michael Jordan and Allen Iverson as the only players in NBA history to have a pair of 50 points-plus games in a playoff series.

The Jazz could have one of the best teams in the Western Conference this season. They should be a title contender.
