The New York Jets pulled off an upset over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, which gave them their first win of the season. They also may have just lost what they have been trying to get all year long.
It was looking great for Jets fans. The team was 0-13 going into their matchup on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. There is no way they would beat a team in first place, right?
Wrong.
The Jets won 23-20 on the road, which put them at 1-13 for the year and tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the worst record in the league. The Jaguars have an easier strength of schedule so they would win the tiebreaker if both teams finish 1-15 and therefore would get the presumptive No. 1 pick in Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
While today isn’t a great day to be a Jets fan because New York may have just lost their next Joe Namath, there are still two more games to play so here are the remaining schedules for both teams.
Jaguars Remaining Schedule
Week 16: Chicago Bears (7-7) at Jaguars
Week 17: Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts (10-4)
Jets Remaining Schedule
Week 16: Cleveland Browns (9-4 through Week 14) at Jets
Week 17: Jets at New England Patriots (6-8)
It would seem like the Jets are more likely to lose their next two games than the Jaguars are. The combined records of Jacksonville’s two opponents are 17-11 while New York’s combined opponents’ records are 15-12.
What we do know is that Jets fans will be huge Jaguars, Browns, and Patriots fans for the next two weeks.
