Devin Duvernay, WR, Texas, #6

Height: 5’11”

Make sure to check out all of our other scouting reports here.

Speed 9.5/10 Explosive. 4.39 40-yard dash time and it shows up on film. Former 100-meter Texas state champion.
Catching  9/10 A couple drops here and there but in some tough situations due to an awkward throw or an incoming defender. Easily plucks the ball out of the air and tucks it away.
Route Tree 8/10 Kind of weird here. Tight in his breaks in routes but uses his intelligence to his advantage. Easily finds space in the defense and sits down and finds the soft spot.
Contested Catching  6/10 Not great in this aspect. Doesn’t high point the ball with a defender draped over him and gets overpowered.
RAC 10/10 Don’t let him see free space. He’s going to attack it with a vengeance. Slippery and explosive with the ball in his hands, yet won’t be brought down on the first contact. He can be a bowling ball at times in one-on-one situations.
Release 6/10 Wasn’t faced with press coverage a lot at Texas due to playing in the slot. Not going to win in bump-and-run coverage and is best used in situations where he can read the defenders and find the soft spot in coverage.
Vertical Receiving  8.5/10 Uses his speed to his advantage to run past the coverage. Needs to work on his release ability to be elite here. Good at tracking the ball in space.
Athleticism  8/10 Plagued by his contested catch ability which showed in the broad jump and high jump at the combine. Other than that, extremely explosive.
Competitive Toughness 10/10 Ask Grant Delpit how tough he is. Will bully defenders when they attempt to tackle and will truck some people. Always hungry for more yards.
Blocking  2.5/5 All or nothing. Physical in some blocks but other times he can miss. Will sometimes let the defender come to him instead of going straight for the defender.
Injury  5/5 Nothing to worry about here.
Overall  82.5/100 This wasn’t what I expected. Duvernay is extremely explosive and has great football intelligence. Great slot receiver but needs some development before being complete. His biggest weakness is physicality in his routes, which he can develop in the NFL.

Round Grade: Early Second Round

Projected Draft Position: Late Day Two-Early Day Three.

Player Comp: Christian Kirk
