David Krejci is Proving his Value to the Bruins

David Krejci Boston Bruins

Through the first six weeks of the season, the Boston Bruins have been one of the best teams in the NHL. They have won three straight and have not lost in regulation since January 18. While the Bruins offense has struggled at times, David Krejci has gotten off to a solid start. In the last year of his deal, the Bruins center currently ranks fifth on the team in points. As the Bruins have gotten off to a hot start, Krejci has been in vintage form.

Through 11 games this season, Krejci has nine assists. The Bruins veteran has yet to score a goal but is tied for the team lead in assists. So far this year, Krejci has at least a point in eight games and currently has a four-game point streak. After recording 30 assists last season he already nearly has a third of that total.

Additionally, Krejci has been productive on the power play. The former second-round pick has five points on the man advantage. This season, the Bruins have had one of the best powerplay units in the league, and Krejci has been a key contributor. Although he has yet to find the back of the net, the Bruins center has been putting his teammates in positions to score.

So far this season, Krejci has found success with constantly changing linemates. Jake Debrusk has only appeared in six games, and Ondrej Kase has appeared in two. As a result, Krejci has spent time playing alongside a mixture of forwards, including Brett Ritchie, who has been one of the Bruins’ best players. Like in years past, he has found ways to be productive regardless of who is on his line.

Due to Krejci’s start, he is on the verge of passing a career milestone in the coming weeks. Through 922 career games, he has 488 assists. The Bruins center only needs seven more assists to move into seventh in franchise history. Patrice Bergeron is currently fifth, but Krejci trails him by 38 assists. Regardless of how many assists Krejci ends up with, he will soon claim a special spot in franchise history.

As the Bruins look to continue their hot start Krejci will be an important piece. He has been aggressive shooting the puck and is currently winning faceoffs at a high career rate. Regardless of who is on his wing, the thirty-four-year-old has been one of the Bruins’ most consistent offensive contributors. The season is far from over, but Krejci is proving his value.
