Damico’s Depository: Week 3 College Football Picks and Locks

Mac Jones

Last week, SEC Football lived up to all the hype. Many overestimated LSU’s ability to play even close to how they did last year. Georgia and Alabama didn’t hold up to form and failed to beat their conference opponents by four touchdowns. Let’s see how things shake out this week.

Let’s take a look at my record so far.

Lock Record: 8-3 (.727)

TCU at Texas (-10)

Outright: Texas

Spread: TCU

TCU has won five of the last six matchups between these teams, but tomorrow the Longhorns will handle their business. It will be close like it usually is, but Sam Ehlinger is going to feel a sense of urgency after almost losing to Texas Tech last week. This will be a fun one to watch.

13 Texas A&M at Alabama (-18)

Outright: Alabama

Spread: Texas A&M

A lot of times, the Aggies seem to play to the level of their competition. They’re not going to win tomorrow, but it will be closer than many will believe. Mac Jones looked vulnerable and Kellen Mond will step it up.

25 Memphis at SMU (EVEN)

Outright: SMU

Spread: SMU (Lock)

Bold prediction: this will be the best game on TV tomorrow. These two teams have a history of playing some good football against each other. SMU looks fantastic so far this year through three games, so expect Ulysses Bentley IV and the ‘Stangs to handle business tomorrow.

7 Auburn at 4 Georgia (-7.5)

Outright: Auburn

Spread: Auburn (Lock)

Georgia looked vulnerable in the first half of last week’s game against Arkansas. If Bo Nix and the Tigers can get an early start on the Bulldogs, they should be able to handle them. Georgia’s quarterback situation is up in the air as well making the Tigers the safer bet.
