Blake Jarwin came into this season as the starting tight end for the Dallas Cowboys. However, during Dallas’s opening game against the Los Angeles Rams, Jarwin went down with a knee injury. It turned that Jarwin tore his ACL, thus ending his season. The next man up would be Dalton Schultz.
Schultz would quickly enter the game. Unfortunately, he did not have a good night as he only had one catch for 11 yards on four targets, including two drops. In addition, he was also called for offensive pass interference. The Cowboys would ultimately lose the game, starting the season 0-1.

Yesterday, in Dallas’s thrilling come-from-behind victory, Schultz was able to redeem himself. Early in the game, he did fumble the ball which allowed the Atlanta Falcons to take a 20-0 in the first quarter, but he would soon regroup and play a big role in Dallas’ win.
Schultz finished the game with nine catches for 88 yards on 10 targets. He also scored his first-career touchdown in the fourth quarter. Schultz’s 10-yard touchdown sparked Dallas’s late comeback. In Schultz’s case, what better moment than to score your first-career touchdown in a come-from-behind scenario. This could be a career boost for him.

Is This The Opportunity Schultz Has Been Waiting For?
Schultz was drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Stanford University. During that time, Dallas was looking for Jason Witten‘s successor as he abruptly retired days before the draft. Schultz along with Jarwin, was out to prove who would be the guy to become the next star tight end.
After very little to no action in his first two seasons, Schultz does, indeed, have the opportunity of a lifetime. This is his chance to prove himself. Schultz has to capitalize on his golden opportunity. Before the season began, Schultz’s future was unclear. After a strong performance against Atlanta, he has to keep it up. He needs to give the Cowboys organization a reason to keep him on the team long term.
