The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles kick off the 2025 season with one of the NFL’s greatest divisional rivalries.

ToggleDallas is fresh off a disappointing season. Hopes are high with Dak Prescott healthy and Brian Schottenheimer taking over as head coach, but there’s still plenty of concern in Dallas. The Cowboys have a glaring hole on defense after Micah Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers. As a result, cornerbacks DaRon Bland and Tre’Von Diggs are the focal points of this defense. Defensive tackle Kenny Clark, part of the return package for Parsons, is also a player to watch.
The Eagles won the Super Bowl last February and subsequently lost several defensive contributors. However, they drafted quite well and still have plenty of talent on the offensive side of the ball. The rushing threat of Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley gives Philadelphia momentum heading into the 2025 NFL season.

Vegas doesn’t seem to be a big fan of the Cowboys’ offseason, either. Even against the reigning champions, entering a game as a two-score underdog is embarrassing for Dallas. Such a large spread makes sense, though, as the Eagles have a strong offense and should be able to run up the score.
What To Watch For
The consensus is that the Eagles should win by a lot, but it will still be interesting to see how Philadelphia’s restructured defense performs. Dallas’ potent offense is a strong test for the Eagles’ defense in Week 1.
While we’re talking about the Cowboys’ offense, let’s not forget about George Pickens. The Steelers traded him this offseason, and it looks like he could form an impressive one-two punch with CeeDee Lamb.
The Eagles’ offensive line is still good, but it’s not exactly elite. Plus, there are some injuries to watch in the trenches. Saquon Barkley’s role may look a little different behind this offensive line, especially with Philadelphia expected to scale back his workload. Of course, he’s still going to be one of the best running backs in the NFL.
