With all the quarterback changes around the league, it was inevitable that the Carolina Panthers were going to be shopping former MVP Cam Newton. The Panthers announced that Newton wants out of Carolina, although the oft-injured quarterback refuted this idea.
The entire saga is just screaming for a change of scenery. This is especially good timing considering the fact that the Panthers just hired rookie head coach Matt Rhule.
So, where is the best place for Cam? One may answer Tampa Bay because of their system’s mobile quarterback familiarity. Well, Tampa doesn’t appear to have much interest.
Would a team like Miami be a good fit? No, because they are much better off seeking a new slinger in the draft.
The one team that looks like a great fit is the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Chargers are coming off a very disappointing 5-11 season and appear to be moving on from franchise quarterback Philip Rivers after 17 seasons. They are in need of a new quarterback to try to re-gain their contention. They additionally have a new stadium opening and it would be nice for the fans to have something to look forward to. Cam Newton fits in perfectly. The Chargers just re-signed running back Austin Ekeler and have a nice core of Keenan Allen and Hunter Henery as weapons for Newton.
Overall, the Panthers and Chargers look like a great match for a trade and perhaps one can facilitate quickly.
