Corrigan’s Gambling Corner: New Years Day

Corrigan's Gambling Corner: College Football

Happy New Year to everyone. Hopefully, 2021 will treat us all better. We finished 2020 with a winning record and we will finish 2021 with a better record. What better way to start than with some college football.

2020 Final Record: 132-124-5

CFB Best Bet: Cincinnati vs Georgia (-7.5)

Ever since JT Daniels took over the starting job, Georgia has become an offensive juggernaut, averaging 41.6 PPG. If Daniels was the starting quarterback at the beginning of the season, we are looking at one of the best teams in the country. While Cincinnati is a very good team, they have not really dominated their opponents even with one of the most proficient offenses in the country. Georgia should win this game pretty easily and prove that they will be one of the best teams in the country next season.

CFB Playoff Best Bet: Ohio State (+7.5) vs Clemson

With Clemson’s beat down of Notre Dame and Justin Fields‘ and Ohio State’s struggles, this number has inflated. While Trevor Lawrence should have no problem dissecting a somewhat suspect Ohio State secondary, Ohio State can keep up with anyone offensively, no matter what defense is in front of them. With Chris Olave returning from his COVID-related absence in the Big Ten Championship game, Fields is getting his favorite target back. The Buckeyes will also hope to build off Trey Sermon‘s record-setting performance against Northwestern and get their running backs more involved. Ohio State relied heavily on J.K. Dobbins last year and they have been missing that presence this year. Clemson will pull off a close win, but they will not be able to contain the Ohio State offense.
