Corrigan’s Gambling Corner: Bengals vs Browns Best Bets

Corrigan's Gambling Corner: College Football

Welcome back to the gambling corner. Tonight is the 100th birthday of the NFL, and what better way to celebrate than having the two teams from Ohio play on Thursday night. Why they didn’t play this game at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton? That’s a good question.

Anyway, there is some money to be won tonight. I am 7-2 to open up this NCAA/NFL season, so let’s ride the hot hand and make some money.

The Spread: Browns -6

This is a huge game for the Cleveland Browns. After a humiliating, but expected loss in Baltimore, the urgency for Baker Mayfield to improve is high. Let’s just say it, he has not improved at all since his good rookie season. Expect a bounce back, but not a great game tonight. The Bengals will be missing two starting defensive lineman tonight, so expect a healthy dose of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Joe Burrow played great in Week 1, but that offensive line is horrible and the Browns, shockingly, had the highest quarterback pressure in Week 1. It will be a close game for a while but expect the Browns pulling away late and winning 31-17.

Over/Under: Over 43.5

Well since I think the Browns will win 31-17, that means the over will hit. The battle for Ohio is typically a higher scoring game for whatever reason. But expect Burrow to come out hot, especially with this terrible Browns secondary. Look for the Browns to run the ball all night long.

Best Prop of the Night (courtesy of Draft Kings): Nick Chubb over 69.5 rushing yards (-118)

The Bengals are missing two starters on the defensive line tonight and the Browns, for the most part, did a good job with protecting Mayfield last week. If the Browns can control the run game, which they should with Chubb, they will win easily tonight. Expect a lot of touches for Chubb tonight.

Bonus NBA pick: Celtics -2.5

Hey, we don’t just bet football in this household. The Boston Celtics had Game 1 in hand. But they always do this thing where they have a big lead and just start to pack it in. After an embarrassing loss, they will turn up the pressure and play Celtics basketball tonight. The Celtics will win, and win big.
