Commanders vs. Ravens: Week 6 Preview, Betting Odds, TV Info

Commanders Ravens

The Washington Commanders have won four in a row. If they are victorious against the Baltimore Ravens, they will win five straight games for the first time since 2001. Also, a win would ensure the Commanders hold on to sole possession of first place in the NFC East.

Washington has been led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who ranks third in the NFL in QBR with a 77.1% completion rate. That’s nothing to scoff at. If you look at starting rookie quarterbacks who have played, only Joe Burrow, Baker Mayfield, and Lamar Jackson have a higher quarterback rating in the first five games. The combination of Daniels and Kliff Kingsbury has been a winner for the Commanders so far, and it will be interesting to see if they can do the same against the Ravens.

On the other side of the ball, the Ravens are 18-2 at home against rookie quarterbacks under John Harbaugh. Baltimore’s pass defense is 31st in the league, and receivers for their previous opponents have racked up some yards against that defense. They must figure out Kingsbury’s plan and find a way to cover better than in previous games.

The Ravens would need to use Derrick Henry in this game, as they have in the past few. Henry has averaged 147.3 rushing yards per game during their three-game win streak. With Washington’s poor performance—it is second to last in yards allowed per carry—Jackson should feed Henry the ball as much as possible.

Betting Odds

Odds courtesy of DraftKings.

Point Spread: WAS +7(-112)| BAL -7(-108)
Moneyline: WAS (+260) | BAL (-325)
Over/Under: WAS 51.5 (-110) | BAL 51.5 (-110)

The Commanders have won two of the three games they’ve played as underdogs this season, and Baltimore is 0-1 against the spread when favored by 7 points or more this season.  People love an underdog, and when you compare this season for Washington against the previous ones, it is hard not to want to bet on them.

What To Watch For

Brian Robinson Jr. was ruled out for the game. Washington will lose a key piece on offense, but they still have other players like Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols to rely upon. They must play to their strengths to beat the Ravens and not let the moment get too big for them.

For the Ravens to be victorious, they must utilize Henry as much as possible, and Jackson must be his usual self. The Ravens are in a much better place than the Cincinnati Bengals were when the Commanders played them. As long as they make a better attempt in their pass defense, they have the chance to take the win.
