Entering the first day of May, Cody Bellinger has set a few new records.

The MLB season is off and running, and the Dodgers are looking for another World Series trip, with a different outcome. Cody Bellinger has been off to an outstanding start. On Monday night, Bellinger picked up his 37th run batted in. That’s the most RBI’s before May 1st in MLB history. Bellinger already set the record for total bases prior to the series against the Giants.

On Sunday, against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Bellinger hit a home-run off Trevor Williams, tying Albert Pujols, Alex Rodriguez, and Christian Yelich for the most home runs hit before May 1st. If you thought that was impressive, it doesn’t end there. Bellinger added 44 hits so far this season, making him the sole record holder before May 1st.

Bellinger has a batting average of .434. Also slashing .508/.906 (1.414 OPS) with a 267 OPS+, which ranks first in MLB. Bellinger’s strikeout rate for 2019 so far is 11.7. As I mentioned earlier, Bellinger has 14 HRs and 37 RBI’s, along with 30 runs, and 5 stolen bases so far this season. The Dodgers are leading the NL in runs (164) and RBI (159) and are the first team to 20 wins. It is an excellent start for the Dodgers and Bellinger.

After Sunday’s win against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Bellinger told the media, “I would just say it’s understanding how to use your swing, just trying to stay within myself in the cage every day and repeat what I’m doing,” said Bellinger. “Just not trying to do too much. Rob and Brownie have done a good job of keeping me where I’m at. They’ve done a great job for me.”

According to Elias Sports Bureau, Cody Bellinger is batting .434 with 14 HRs and 37 RBIs over 30 games this year. No other player ever reached all three of those triple-crown levels through his first 30 games of a season. Bellinger has gotten off to a historic start, and he is well on track to win MVP.
