Chris Bosh sees HEAT as a top three team in the East with Jimmy Butler and Russell Westbrook

Jacari McRae| July 11th, 2019

Former Miami Heat star Chris Bosh believes the Heat could be a top-three team in the Eastern Conference if they acquired Russell Westbrook.

“I would say definitely top-three,” Bosh said on ESPN’s Golic and Wingo Show. “That’s no disrespect to other teams, but if we’re talking talent and big time game ability and just the hunger; both of those guys haven’t won a championship, so they’re very hungry. They’re obviously very good, some of the top talent in the NBA.

“If I could build around those guys for the next four years I would as well.”

After landing Jimmy Butler in a four-team trade, the Miami Heat are currently trying to land Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star point guard. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Westbrook would be open to playing for the Heat, who are one of few teams interested in pursuing a deal. According to a Wednesday report from Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Thunder and Heat have had preliminary talks. While he’s not sure about the trade details, Jackson says the Heat are reluctant to include Bam Adebayo or Tyler Herro.

With Kawhi Leonard heading west to the Los Angeles Clippers, the East remains wide open. Should the Heat land Russell Westbrook, they’ll have a chance to contend with the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference. Jimmy Butler is one of the league’s better two-way players and Russell Westbrook is a walking triple-double. Both players are known for being highly competitive, which is what the Heat loves to see in its players.

However, before any of this can happen, the Heat and Thunder need to agree to a deal first. We’ll see if both sides can get it done.

NBA Homecoming: Players Spend Christmas in Familiar Places

For one day, people forgot about the NBA’s poor ratings. The five games we followed on Christmas Day were so exhilarating that they even overtook the NFL’s own Christmas slate in terms of excitement.
