The Chicago Bears released wide receiver Taylor Gabriel and cornerback Prince Amukamara on Friday.

Releasing Gabriel and Amukamara creates $13.5 million in cap space with $3 million in dead money.

Gabriel had 96 catches in 25 games for the Bears and 6 TDs, but had 2 concussions last year.

Amukamara had been with the Bears for the last three seasons. He had played for the New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars before joining the Bears. Last season he started 15 games and had 53 tackles, 10 pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. His best season with the Bears came in 2018 when the Bears won the NFC North championship. That year Amukamara had 66 tackles, three interceptions, 12 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles. In three seasons with the Bears, he had 167 tackles, three interceptions, 49 pass breakups, four tackles-for-loss, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
Gabriel had been with the Bears for the last two seasons. Before joining the Bears, he had played for the Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons. Last year Gabriel had 29 catches for 353 yards and four touchdowns. In two seasons with Chicago, Gabriel had 96 catches for 1,041 yards and six touchdowns.
