Chicago Bears Pre Free Agency Seven Round Mock Draft

Daniel Corrigan | February 24th, 2020

The Bears were a massive disappointment last season. After an NFC North title the year before, they failed to make the playoffs and Mitchell Trubisky took a big step back last season.

The good news, its draft season. The bad news, they do not have a first-round pick. But that does not mean they can find some young talent to get back to the top of the division.

Round 2, Pick 43: Brycen Hopkins, TE, Purdue

The Bears need pass-catchers. They also need a TE in this draft. A player like Cole Kmet could fall here but I think he will be drafted in the first. Hopkins in an incredible talent who could really be a reliable target for Trubisky this season.

Round 2, Pick 50: Isaiah Wilson, Tackle, Georgia

With the sudden retirement of Kyle Long, the Bears have to address this offensive line almost immediately. I know Long is a guard, but you need someone to protect the end on the line, as well as your QB’s blind-side.

Round 5, Pick 142: Anfernee Jennings, Edge, Alabama

The Bears really need a man to rush the QB. He may not be the quickest man off the line, but he is pretty damn strong. He will fair pretty well against the run. I don’t see him as a steal in the draft, or someone that will produce for a very long time. I do see him as a project. If this project works, he will be a nice pick-up in the later rounds.

Round 5, Pick 146: Cesar Ruiz, Center, Michigan

He is listed as a center and played center all-year, but i see him as more of a guard. He is a great run-blocker, and is very mobile, which is a fantastic trait for a 300-pound man.

Round 6, Pick 177: Jauan Jennings, WR, Tennessee

It’s not a dire need, but its definitely a need. They need more play-makers for their offense. It was brutal to watch the Bears on offense last season. That is mainly because of Trubisky’s regression, but they also need to give him some help.

Round 6, Pick 181: Jaylinn Hawkins, S, Cal

The Bears have a pretty good secondary, but they could use some depth. Hawkins played alongside Ashtyn Davis at Cal and they made a pretty good pairing. Hawkins is a ballhawk and a guy who can cover the whole field. He may not be a player that makes a real impact, but he can be a late-round steal.

Round 7, Pick 211: Kelly Bryant, QB, Missouri

This may be Trubisky’s last season to prove that he is the QB of this team. They don’t need to overreact and grab a QB early. They can wait till their last pick and possibly find a hidden gem. Bryant was on track to becoming a decent prospect before he lost the Clemson job and transferred out. He is worth a shot to come into camp and compete.
