The Kansas City Chiefs will host division rival Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead, looking to continue their dominance of the AFC West.

Despite some close calls in the past few games with these teams, the Chiefs are looking to get their fourth straight win over the Chargers. Currently, the Chiefs are in a great position to continue their run, not only in the AFC West but the NFL overall.

The Chargers will be looking to shut down the passing game for the Chiefs, so there may be more handoffs to Isiah Pacheco in this game. Also, the Chargers were able to get to Dak Prescott in their game against the Dallas Cowboys for five sacks, and that was with four different players. So, the offensive line for the Chiefs will need to be aware; otherwise, Patrick Mahomes will either receive the same treatment or be pressured to make out-of-pocket plays.

The defense for the Chiefs will be going after Justin Herbert. Chris Jones has had a sack in each game he has played this season. Also, defensive end Charles Omenihu is expected to play for the first time for the Chiefs. It will be interesting to see how he fits into Steve Spagnuolo’s defense after missing six games due to a suspension.

On the Chargers defense, Khalil Mack has seven sacks in his past two games, so you know he will be looking to get to Mahomes. Also, don’t forget Morgan Fox has five sacks on the season, and Joey Bosa has three. The defense for the Chargers is not to be taken lightly.

It looks like the game will be heading toward another nail-biter, keeping fans on the edge of their seat until the clock hits zero or it goes into overtime.

Point Spread: KC  +5.5 (-110), LAC -5.5 (-110)
Moneyline: KC (-245), LAC (+200)
Over/Under: O/U 47.5 (-110)

Kansas City is the favorite to win this game. However, it is a close call due to previous games being decided by only a few points. The Chiefs are 5-1 as moneyline favorites, and the Chargers lost the only game they’ve played as the underdog this season.

What To Watch For

No one can forget last season when safety Derwin James essentially hoisted Travis Kelce and body-slammed him near the goal line. It will undoubtedly be an exciting matchup to watch in this game if James is able to play. He was hurt in practice this past Thursday and was unable to work Friday. So, he is questionable for the game. In the past two seasons, Kelce has come up with five touchdowns against the Chargers. So, despite the Chargers being able to keep their opponents’ passing game in check, most Chiefs fans know that almost nothing can stop the Mahomes to Kelce connection.

The last few wins the Chiefs have had over the Chargers have been by less than seven points. It is expected to be a close game. If the Chargers can keep Mahomes in check, stop the passing game, and keep Pacheco from doing his thing, they might have a chance to win. The offensive line for the Chargers will need to do their absolute best to keep the Chiefs’ defense from getting to Herbert.

It looks like it might be a battle of the defenses, and whichever offense can overcome the hazards will have the opportunity to claim victory.
