Week 1 of the college football season brought some real craziness and a lot of unexpected play from some of the top prospects. This week, we see a less action-packed schedule and a chance for those lesser-known guys to go and dominate the competition.
Note: These players are only those eligible in the 2022 NFL Draft class.
Brock Purdy, QB, Iowa State
The Cyclones could only manage a 16-10 win against Northern Iowa on Saturday. Purdy is one of those quarterbacks who is still looking in from the outside on true draft recognition. A big game here against the 10th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes could get eyes on him, and he really needs those eyes to improve his draft stock.
Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas
Burks is a guy who’s seeing first-round recognition as of now, but that could change depending on his performance against Texas this week. He’ll go up against a very talented secondary and will need to consistently win reps to keep his stock as high as it is, if not raise it further.
Nakobe Dean, LB, Georgia
The big question with Dean this week is how will he back up a phenomenal Week 1 performance? Advanced stats demonstrate that Dean had four pressures in 10 rushes, while at the same time locking down on the coverage side of things. The Bulldogs take on UAB this week, so it is all about how he fares against the weaker opponent.
Riley Moss, CB, Iowa
Our second Cy-Hawk Bowl player, Moss, had a fantastic Week 1. His performance was highlighted by not one but two pick-sixes. Not only that, he also showed a great man coverage ability. If he can shut down the Cyclone receivers, it’s time we start talking about Moss as one of the better cornerbacks in this draft class.
Daxton Hill, S, Michigan
Hill was highly recruited out of high school but has yet to really get the attention he deserves. Going against Washington this week, he will once again get to show off his superb athleticism and coverage ability. In fact, he might be a better player than presumable first-rounder Aidan Hutchinson at Michigan; not many have gotten the chance to see that yet.
