CFB Prospects to Watch: Week 12

CFB Prospects to Watch

One final week remains of the college football regular season. This gives us the last chance to review a lot of prospects on teams who are not bowl eligible as they will play their final games in college on Saturday. We’ve gone through dozens of different guys so far but there’s still a whole host of players that have great opportunities to get noticed by the NFL scouts this weekend.

Hank Bachmeier, QB, Boise State

Bachmeier was someone who was pretty highly regarded in the preseason draft outlook. Since then, he hasn’t impressed too much but has still shown professional throws and could make some noise if he declares for the draft. Bachmeier faces a ranked San Diego State this weekend and it’s probably the best team he’ll go up against for the rest of the year, meaning a big performance could land him lots of points in draft eyes as a late-round quarterback.

Xavier Gipson, WR, SFA

The FCS players are making names for themselves. This season, Gipson has 68 catches for over 1,200 yards and a whole 14 touchdowns. The stats are mind-blowing and the film is very clean as well. He’s a crisp route runner that is super elusive in space. People are starting to open their eyes to Gipson and should get the opportunity to as they go up against Incarnate Wood this weekend.

Thayer Munford, OL, Ohio State

Munford lines up at guard for Ohio State but at 6’6″, he can play tackle just as well at the next level. Munford has been arguably Ohio State’s best offensive lineman since an injury against Tulsa but is faced with his biggest challenge this weekend. Michigan’s front seven is one of the best in the country, boasting names like Aidan Hutchinson, Chris Hinton, and David Ojabo. It’ll be a great opportunity for the guard who could be a very nice Day 2 pick.

Amare Barno, DL, Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech comes into their rivalry matchup with Virginia sitting at 5-6 and on the brink of elimination from bowl game contention. With that, Barno will need to get into the backfield plenty to save his team’s season. The 6’6″ defensive lineman who lines up all over will be a very intriguing player to NFL prospects strictly because of his frame. Barno has shown a nice distribution of pass and run defense and could be a very solid mid to late-round pickup for any team.

Perrion Winfrey, DT, Oklahoma

We couldn’t have put out a list of players without taking at least one from Bedlam. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have the biggest implications the rivalry has had in years and every single player will need to make an impact and try to cause a difference to win the game for their team. Winfrey can be just the guy to do this. He’s not exactly the X-factor of the game but stopping the run is vital to defeating the Cowboys and Winfrey can do just that. He can also incorporate vicious pass-rush from the interior, proven through the 5.5 sacks he’s landed already this season.
