Week 3 gave us a lot in the NFL draft world but we are still nowhere near the time where big boards can be made and mocks can really be put out with full confidence. However, we can continue digging for guys with impressive performances and big opportunities each week.
Jack Coan, QB, Notre Dame
Our quarterback of the week has got to be Coan. Where does he stand as an NFL prospect right now? It’s very hard to tell. However, this storyline is too good to pass up on. Coan returns back to where his career started at Wisconsin and has the chance to show out against his old program. Averaging 276 yards per game with eight total touchdowns on the season, Coan has been very solid for Notre Dame but he’ll need to start making more NFL throws to get that stock up.
Isaiah Spiller, RB, Texas A&M
Spiller has been a top running back so far this season, but this is a massive game for him. Playing against Arkansas, a team that held Texas star, Bijan Robinson, to 70 yards and 19 attempts, he has quite the tough matchup. No matter what the outcome, we’ll be watching this game with a very critical eye to see how he does against the best of competition.
Makai Polk, WR, Mississippi State
Polk has been impressive so far, being Mike Leach’s leading receiver in that crazy air-raid offense. Even though they pass on virtually every down, 25 catches in three games is impressive. This week against LSU, however, will be a different challenge. It’s expected that Derek Stingley Jr. will be the cornerback that Polk goes up against most, so it certainly will be a game he needs to go crazy in.
Malcolm Rodriguez, LB, Oklahoma State
An undersized linebacker, Rodriguez is just everywhere for the Cowboys. He’s fourth in the nation with 36 total tackles and fifth with 22 solos. He’s also forced two fumbles and has shown intensity on every down. This weekend, he’ll face a very dynamic Kansas State offense in a battle of who will be ranked next week.
Elvis Hines, CB, Kent State
One word for Hines? Underrated. Another phrase? Not even looked at yet. People need to start paying attention to this guy. Three picks in three games with a total of six plays on the ball are crazy for a guy coming out of Kent State. Hines gets a big chance to get recognized this week against one of the best air attacks in the country in Maryland. If he can shut down the likes of Dontay Demus Jr. and Rakim Jarrett, then keep your eyes glued to Hines.
