Celtics Notebook: Boston Back to Winning After Uneven Start

Jayson Tatum continued his hot start to the season with 24 points en route to a 101-95 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Marcus Morris added 21 points off the bench for Boston, while Paul George had 22 for Oklahoma City.

The Celtics traveled to Detroit on Saturday and left with a 109-89 win lead by 19 points from Jaylen Brown. Andre Drummond had 18 points for Detroit in the loss.

The Pistons then came to Boston on Tuesday for a rematch, which the Celtics won 108-105. Kyrie Irving lead the way with 31 points for Boston, while Blake Griffin had 24 for Detroit.

Celtics Exercise Yabusele’s Offer

The Celtics elected to exercise Guerschon Yabusele’s 2019-2020 offer worth $3.1 million. Yabusele averaged 2.2 points and 1.5 assists per game last season. The 16th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, the Celtics are still hopeful Yabusele can grow into an everyday player.

Theis Out Indefinitely With Foot Injury

Daniel Theis is out indefinitely with a slight tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot. This news comes on the heels of his season-high 17 point performance against the Pistons on Saturday. Theis was averaging six points and 3.4 rebounds in just over 12 minutes per game this season.
