So ‘The Finnish Flash’ flung his right glove to the rafters, swung his stick up like a shotgun, and pumped away in triumph. It was an electric reaction to an electric achievement during the electric debut of the greatest Finn to ever lace a pair of skates.

As enjoyable as it was to watch Wayne Gretzky park himself behind the net and make a great play, it was equally as enjoyable to watch “Super Mario” weave and deke through the teeth of the defense for a goal. Lemieux left an ever-lasting impression on the game with his incredible offensive skills that won’t be forgotten. Known as one of the more dynamic players during his generation, he was a fluid skater along with being an adept passer and skills man. Kamensky’s infamous mid-air spinning goal on John Vanbiesbrouck, would, in fact, be added as the intro to the EA video game NHL 98.
