The New Jersey Devils made several significant additions to their roster heading into the 2019-20 campaign. For starters, they won the 2019 NHL Draft Lottery, and right to land coveted top prospect, Jack Hughes. Devils general manager Ray Shero then pulled the trigger and traded for P.K. Subban, and talented forward Nikita Gusev. The Devils also dipped their toe in the free-agent pool reeling in power forward Wayne Simmonds.
2019-2020 marked another season where the Buffalo Sabres just couldn’t find their way to stable productivity throughout the entirety of a season. As on-lookers, we always realize that the potential is in fact there in Buffalo. For whatever reason, however, the Sabres fall short. This year marks the ninth consecutive campaign without a playoff birth, currently the longest active stretch of all teams. Despite missing the mark, Buffalo’s potential to be better remains in place. Let’s look into the season that was and take a sneak peek at the future.
Bruce Cassidy has had an excellent tenure so far with the Boston Bruins. Success that has translated to being a finalist for the Jack Adams once again:
The 2020 NHL Entry Draft is one that screams raw talent. From offensively gifted forwards to silky smooth blue-liners, the upcoming NHL Draft should be one of the most memorable events in recent memory. If you’re ready for an exciting, dynamic defenseman who’s ready to take the National Hockey League by storm, look no further than Kaiden Guhle. A standout talent, Guhle has been turning heads this season with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and now has his sights set on the bright lights of the NHL. So what is it about Guhle that makes him such an intriguing prospect? Let’s read on and find out!
While Steen never made an appearance in Boston, he had a solid first season in the AHL.
A quick gander at the Ducks roster currently reveals an influx of younger players will be taking on more important
Every NHL Entry Draft sees it’s fair share of surprises, hiccups, studs, duds, and collective “eyebrow raises.” For fans, NHL teams, junior clubs, scouts, and prospects themselves, they wouldn’t have it any other way. The NHL Draft table/floor is also a place for contemplation, risk, and savvy selections. When the puck drops to begin new campaigns, whether they take place in North America, or overseas, there’s always that handful (or more) of prospects with the propensity to surprise. Seth Jarvis from the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL) is one of those prospects.
Slowly but surely the Los Angeles Kings are taking on a new identity. This isn’t Darryl Sutter’s boys anymore. The new boys will be making an impact soon, and they are primed to so under the guidance of head coach Todd McLellan. The dump and chase strategy has been replaced with a more traditional puck possession offense. Improvements will be made, albeit throughout several seasons. Los Angeles was marginally better this past season, with an influx of young talent coming down the pipeline, one can expect that they will only get better. Let’s take a closer look at the 2019-2020 Los Angeles Kings and what can we expect down the road.
Hendrix Lapierre is one of the more intriguing names leading up to the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Born and raised in Gatineau, Quebec, the diminutive centerman is simply one of those players who excels at many different facets of the game. In addition, his all-around, solid two-way game has (quietly) turned heads this season in the Quebec League. With the first phase of the NHL Draft Lottery complete, let’s take a closer look at the playing career and NHL prognosis of Chicoutimi Sagueneens centerman, Hendrix Lapierre.
After a rather successful 2018-2019 campaign where they amassed 101 points the San Jose Sharks were on par to follow in line with another good season in 2019-2020. Minus Joe Pavelski and his 38 goals(now with Dallas), the team appeared to be in place for good things. Just three months into the season and coach Pete DeBoer was out the door. A slew of injuries later and the Sharks are suddenly among the weakest clubs in the league. Let’s delve in a little further and find out what went down in our NHL team recap of the San Jose Sharks.
