We always hear about a general manager’s failings when it comes to acquisitions. However, there are a lot of great moves that get swept under the rug. Jordan Leandre shares the best bargains in recent Boston sports history.
The Detroit Lions finished in last place in the NFC North Division, but that doesn’t reflect the reality of their situation. The team was competitive for the first six games going 2-3-1, and during this stretch, all of their losses were by four points or less. The Lions were not as bad as their record shows. However going forward, this is a significant offseason for head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn, as both are rumored to be on the hot seat. In short, Patricia and Quinn need to win and be in “meaningful games” during December. To play in the meaningful games in December, the Lions have hit on a few of their nine picks in the 2020 draft.
The Arizona Cardinals have been very active this offseason, determined to fill the needs on their roster. They’ve brought in an array of defensive talent from free agency including linebacker De’Vondre Campbell, outside linebacker/edge Devon Kennard, and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips. They also had four notable re-signings with running back Kenyan Drake, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, right tackle Marcus Gilbert, and left tackle D.J. Humphries. Going forward, the team looks to have a dynamic offense with the acquisition of star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (for a second-round pick and running back David Johnson) to go along with the second-year quarterback, Kyler Murray.

Ryan Potts analyzes Part IV of his expanded playoff simulation with a clash between the Texans and Titans.

Yehuda Schwartz explains why Jadeveon Clowney to the Jets would make perfect sense for both sides.

John Devereaux gives his predictions for the AFC playoff seedings for the 2020 season.
For the first time in twenty years, Tom Brady will be playing for a team other than the New England Patriots. In what was the biggest move in franchise history, if not NFL history, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have seemingly decided to go “all-in” when they signed the 42-year-old quarterback on a two-year $50 million dollar deal back in March.

Celeste Sabin gives her list of football and basketball movies to watch if you’re missing sports on this hiatus.
Entering the offseason, the Minnesota Vikings faced several critical decisions. With basically no cap space, the Vikings had to let go of several veterans. Xavier Rhodes and Linval Joseph were released while Everson Griffen and Trae Waynes were just a few of the free agents the team couldn’t afford to re-sign. However, the Vikings were able to sign Kirk Cousins to an extension that opened up the cap space needed to put the franchise tag on Anthony Harris.

B.J. Martin shares his top sports movies to stream in April.

Rex Ryan did not mince words when he criticized the Cowboys’ decision to pay Amari Cooper.
